Zuri Welman was married twice, first to Margaret Look (no children although there were step children) then to Samantha Sharp (1804 - 1854) and had six children, but only two of them lived to adulthood - Zere Lysander and Sarah Jane.


Author: likely his son, Zere Lysander Welman, 1st Sgt 137th NY Infantry

Zere Lysander Welman was a 1st Sergeant in the 137th NY Infantry who later became a Baptist minister in Wisconsin. He enlisted July, 1862, and was discharged June 20, 1865.  Born November 9, 1835, He lived to age 73 passing away on December 14, 1908.

He married Susan Tibbits and had four children, Edward Zuri Welman (1871 - 1903), Samantha Welman (1878 - 1887), Ada Lucille Welman (1884 - 1899) and Eva Grace Welman (1892 - 1934).

Lysander Welman kept a diary during his time in the service.  Many quotes from his diary are included in the regimental history.
