Mrs. R. H. Boyd (Rebecca Hall Boyd) of Pleasant Township, Marion, Ohio, was married to Robert Glass Boyd and had six children, one of whom served in the 121st Ohio Volunteer Infantry and was killed a Kennesaw Mountain, Ga. Kantor records two receipts of goods to the US Christian Commission (August 24, 1863 and October 11, 1865) sent to Mrs. R. H. Boyd and since this is addressed to her as "Sec." in an official capacity, this may well have been an acknowledgement of donations as well. I have not determined what S. A. S. stands for in the address, but there were many women's auxiliary organizations which solicited donations on behalf of the Christian Commission, so Rebecca was likely involved in one of those organizations during the war. Her husband, Robert G. Boyd, is noted as an Elder and leader in the Presbyterian Church in Ohio.
