New York Branch - Eldridge

New York Branch corner card to Mrs. William B. Eldridge from New York, May 7, [1865].  William B. Eldridge enlisted in the 175th New York Infantry on September 3, 1864 and served until June 30, 1865.  While this cover is noted as a soldier's letter and postmarked while he was still a soldier, it is unusual that it is postmarked in New York.  Likely it was hand carried from the field by a delegate returning to New York at the end of the war, then forwarded.
